Data warehouse project management

As a consulting partner of a global data warehouse supplier we were assigned as the project manager of a data warehouse project at a mobile telecom company. This all-inclusive project comprised of hardware, system and application software delivery, including a proven database model for mobile telecom companies. Data modeling, numerous interfaces to the source systems, initial data load, daily data migration, complex data quality analysis and transformation, backup strategy, marketing support, OLAP / MIS development together with ongoing hardware and system support completed the scope. The size of the data warehouse was the largest in the country at that time. The project team was set up of experts from 7 different countries. Project based in Budapest / Hungary. Database tuning and application consulting

As a consulting partner of a leading database company we were assigned to a database tuning project at a mobile telecom company. The project target was one of the most challenging technology problem among our assignments. The credit availability of pre-paid mobile phone customers were to be verified in real time on each initiated outgoing call. A unique large database running on a cluster of computers was analysed and fine-tuned to achieve a good response time for the majority of calls. Special tuning methods and tools were developed by us in order to be able to measure the individual processing time of the database engine. As a result several architectural and hardware options were suggested to the customer to cope with the predicted increase of load. Project based in Budapest / Hungary. Data warehouse consulting

A winding road of a project... As a consulting partner of a global data warehouse supplier we started cooperation in a pilot project at a national telecom company aiming at a tender submission on a large data warehouse expected to be announced. We also contributed to the preparation of the draft proposal. The bidding procedure did start eventually years later and the data warehouse project was won by a third party. However our contribution to the project did not end here as we were invited later by the new supplier for database consulting. Project based in Budapest / Hungary. Data warehouse tuning and logical data modeling

Two independent project assignments at the third largest, in terms of the number of subscriptions, telecom company in Europe. As a partner of a global consulting company we assessed the performance of the core database and prepared a tuning study including short and medium term suggestions on quality assurance. In the second project we contributed to a data warehouse reengineering project thru modeling business requirements. Project based in Istanbul / Turkey.
